The Suicide Prevention Awareness Event was initiated by a member of the City of Florissant’s Youth Advisory Commission in 2009. The event is held in memory of Alex McArthur, a student and member of the softball team at Hazelwood West High School in Hazelwood, MO who tragically took her life in March of 2007. The 5K race and 1 mile fun run are held in conjunction with a softball tournament and BBQ. 100% of the net proceeds go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Last year’s event saw close to 500 in attendance and rose close to $4000.00!

Awards
Awards will be given to the top Male and Female overall as well as the top three males and females in each of the following age categories: 15 & Under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over.

Performance T-shirts in adult and youth sizes will be provided to all 5K and 1 Mile participants. Sizes are not guaranteed for race day registrations so please sign up early!! Online pre-registration closes Friday September 18th, 2015 at 12pm. Registration will be available on race day.
