This Saturday, October 7th, there’s a festival on Red Grade Trails to celebrate the fresh new miles of trails that have been built by and for the community.

If you head up to the trails at 9am to do yoga, or 10am to learn cyclocross, or 11am to hike, jog, walk, bike, listen to music, or just enjoy the trails as part of this festival, you could win BIG.

Why? Because it’s not a race: everyone participant has a chance to win from the following prizes this Saturday:

A weekend trip to a yurt in Shell Canyon

Fly rod from Fly Shop of the Bighorns

$500 gift certificate to Sheridan Bicycle Co.

Yeti Cooler from Rocky Mountain Discount Sports

$300 Patagonia gift card from Fly Shop of the Bighorns and a fly box

Hoka trail running shoes from Foot of the Bighorns

Biking Helmets from Smith

What could be better than a lovely fall weekend at Red Grade Trails – together with friends and family – with a chance to win amazing prizes? You’ll also get free lunch, a festival t-shirt, free beer, and more. Oh yeah, and you’ll be showing your support for your community and the trails just by being there. It doesn’t get better than that.

Biketoberfest is our biggest annual fundraiser. Every dollar raised helps us build and maintain the trails you love!

This year, we’ve moved Biketoberfest to Red Grade Trails to highlight the 6 total miles of hiking and biking trails that will be open to the public this fall. The community is so excited for more miles on this trail system, that we’ve teamed up with local businesses and organizations to create something fun for everyone. Bring your running or hiking shoes, your favorite bike and helmet, your yoga mat, and your friends and join us for an awesome festival in the foothills!

A $30 donation gets you a t-shirt, Jimmy Johns, Black Tooth beer, and entry into any and all events. And remember: Biketoberfest builds trails!

Is it like last year, but different?

You got it. Because Red Grade Trails is a work in progress, we are trying something a little different that our traditional mountain bike racing and trail run. Our hope is to get the whole community up there on Saturday to get involved in the trails you love. The math is simple: the more money we raise, the more trails you will have to enjoy for future generations.

What’s Cyclocross?

Cross-country racing on bikes. ?? But, don’t worry! We’ll teach you (at 10am on Saturday).

Parking

You guys know that space up there is tight, so CARPOOL, please! We will have shuttles running from the snowmobile parking lot to the base parking lot.

A little (left to go) on Red Grade Trails

Red Grade Trails is a community trail system on public land at the foot of the Bighorn Mountains. The trail system winds through open meadows, canyons, saddles, and forest and offers great views of the communities below, challenging climbs and fun downhills, and a lot of peace and quiet off Red Grade road.

With the help of grants and individual donations to SCLT, we have been able to raise funding for 1.8 miles of natural-surface trail on State Land. These miles were completed in the fall of 2015. Currently, we continue to raise funds to complete an additional 4 miles of trails that cost a total of $100,000. We have $32,000 left to raise, and we can’t do this with your support!
