Downriver Dash 5K

Taylor, MI

The USATF-certified Downriver Dash is hosted and organized by The Guidance Center to promote physical activity and wellness. It will begin and end at the Wayne County Community College District -Downriver Campus in Taylor, MI and wind through the scenic Heritage Park. A DJ will be providing entertainment, Life Bridge Church will be handing out free coffee, and free massages from Advanced Holistic Health will be available during and after the race

The Seventh Annual Downriver Dash 5K Run/Walk and Tot Trot will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017. This event is hosted and organized by The Guidance Center to promote physical activity and wellness. It will begin and end at the Wayne County Community College District -Downriver Campus at 21000 Northline Rd, Taylor, MI 48180, and wind through the scenic Heritage Park. A DJ will be providing entertainment, Life Bridge Church will be handing out free coffee, and free massages from Advanced Holistic Health will be available during and after the race.

All participants in the 5K event who register before March 31, 2017 will receive a tech shirt (registrations after March 31 are not guaranteed a shirt, although we try out best to accommodate all participants).

Awards

Custom medals will be awarded for the top men and women in the following age groups: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+. Masters trophies will also be awarded.


The Downriver Duo

All Dash participants who also participate in the Southgate YMCA's Wyandotte River Run on May 19, 2017 will receive a special finisher's medal. We are partnering with the YMCA to encourage Downriver residents to get up and moving by completing these series of two runs. (Participants must register for each race separately; medals will be received in Wyandotte upon completion of the River Run.)

Additionally, the Southgate YMCA will be hosting its free Healthy Kids Day the same day as the Downriver Dash. After the race, bring your children down the street to the YMCA for games and activities from noon to 3 p.m. If your child brings their medal from the Tot Trot (ALL children who run in the Tot Trot receive a medal) they will be entered into a special drawing to win a season's pass to the YMCA's Splash Park!


Downriver Dash Schedule

8 a.m. - Registration

9 a.m. - Tot Trot begins

9:30 a.m. - 5K event begins

Awards ceremony immediately following 5K

 

Entry Fee

Individual 5K Participant

Early Bird registration on or before March 31, 2017: $30

After March 31, 2017 (including day-of registrations): $35

 

Tot Trot

This event is FREE for children 10 years old and younger. The 1/2 mile long Tot Trot is located in front of the Performing Arts Center. There will be free popcorn, face painting by Carey Ann the Clown, visits with Detroit Tigers' mascot Paws, and all Tot Trot participants will receive a bib and a finisher's medal. Parking

Parking is plentiful in the college's parking lots. Follow the Downriver Dash signs to be directed to either of the main parking lots, both of which are a very brief walk to the starting line. Wayne County Community College District - Downriver Campus is located at 21000 Northline Road in Taylor, MI 48180.

 

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup will be inside the college on race morning beginning at 8 a.m.

 

After the race

After your run head back inside the college to pick up your recovery food and visit the vendor tables. Rock out to some tunes as you stick around for the awards ceremony immediately following the 5K!
