Miles for Mize 5k Run/Walk
When: Saturday, November 11th @ 11 AM
Where: Schmidt Park, 2150 Elon Park Drive, Elon, NC
Online registration is now CLOSED. Race Day registration and packet pickup will OPEN at 9:00 AM and close promptly at 10:30 AM to prepare for an 11:00 AM start. Early packet pickup from 6 PM -7 PM tonight (Friday) at 1224 N. NC Highway 87, Elon.
PURPOSE: To celebrate the life of Daniel Adam Mize, an avid fisherman, amazing friend and loving family member, and to raise awareness of the great cost of kidney disease to our local families. Daniel Adam Mize fought a valiant battle to live a passionate life despite suffering kidney failure at just 17 years old. Over the next twelve years, he profoundly touched the hearts of so many. On July 10, 2017, our sweet Daniel left us and took his place in heaven, no longer wheelchair bound or in pain. He will never be forgotten. Unfortunately, there are still families and friends facing losing their precious loved ones. There is an amazing young woman from our county facing that same pain and those same challenges that Daniel bravely endured. Kayla Chambers is just 24 years old and desperately in need of a kidney transplant. The money raised in honor of Daniel will go to help Kayla cover her current medical expenses, the dialysis and calcium infusions she must have each week to survive, and hopefully, with your generosity, we will be able to help cover the anti-rejection medicine she needs when a kidney becomes available. Any donation is greatly appreciated by the family of Daniel Mize, his friends organizing this event, and the family of the young woman to whom these funds will go.
